Cornering The Market #94 - Feb 21, 2024
The Market rebounds, additional AI art controversy, and more | Cornering The Market #94
Please share my Preventive (Longevity) Medicine mission.
I’m an Ivy League trained doctor and a few years ago my life changed when my mother passed from a cancer that was missed on early screens.
It’s now my mission to help people identify and treat chronic disease early.
Over the past year I’ve helped dozens of patients and I’m sharing my knowledge in a new newsletter, on Twitter and on Youtube.
My first video is out explaining this new paradigm to healthcare and how anyone can get started.
If you enjoy any of the content, I would be eternally grateful if you like and share it, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if I can be helpful in any way.
Market Recap
Sentiment has palpably increased as we are seeing some hyped art releases come out, BTC is recovering helping the overall market, and the vitriol against memecoins seems to be pushing towards sustainable value (aka art). Will it last or will the get-rich-quick casino pull people away from art? It's hard to say, but it does seem that week after week more people start to appreciate this movement for what it is - sustainable innovation and value

There was so much going on last week we wanted to save this newsstory so it got it's proper due - Refik Anadol made the Time Magazine top 100!
A huge congrats to Refik for the well deserved honors and for his tireless work getting web3 art on the map
The Botto release was not without it's controversy as a few artists seemed to have an issue with their perception that the art was "mediocre."
It's always an interseting to hear how people rationalize sales on art they don't like - whether it's for aesthetic reasons or they disagree with the concept (looking at you banana on a wall).
Perhaps people should allow others to enjoy art as they please?

Art to highlight
CENTS by Rutherford Chang - We thought it was worth highlighting our favorite Ordinals collection, especially with the sudden and sad passing of the artist.
10,000 Pennies (1 US cent) were taken and scanned with high resolution into the Bitcoin blockchain, all from before 1982 the year the penny stopped being pure copper.
The concept of enshrining the penny into the blockchain before it went out of circulation was beautiful and one that resonated, so much so that a vibrant community has emerged from the project that has been working hard for months to create rarities and traits on top of the ones in the metadata.
This feels like a brilliant concept executed well by a dedicated artist, not to mention a perfect example of how blockchain can enshrine culture forever.
