Cornering The Market #95 - March 7, 2024
$2m Cryptopunk sale, objkt on the mend, AI continues to roll, and more | Cornering The Market #95
Please share my Preventive (Longevity) Medicine mission.
I’m an Ivy League trained doctor and a few years ago my life changed when my mother passed from a cancer that was missed on early screens.
It’s now my mission to help people identify and treat chronic disease early.
Over the past year I’ve helped dozens of patients and I’m sharing my knowledge in a new newsletter, on Twitter and on Youtube.
My first video is out explaining this new paradigm to healthcare and how anyone can get started.
If you enjoy any of the content, I would be eternally grateful if you like and share it, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if I can be helpful in any way.
Market Recap
A quick announcement to start - my medical practice is getting busier so I'll be shifting this to every other week for the forseeable future, though I hope to get back to once weekly as things normalize and / or I can get some more help - if you are interested in helping write some stories let me know!
Now on to the market - we had a savage dip in BTC last week which really reset sentiment and put a lot of things on pause.
But as is often the case after a short term dip Cryptopunks came roaring back, most notably a megasale of $2.18m on a ultra rare Ape body punk with a vape (pretty cool one actually)
Sentiment as such as improved and it does all seem to follow punks interestingly.
I'm seeing more interesting art released and as they say it's always darkest before dawn, so hopefully we are on a more sustained upswing here.
Now that the negative side of memecoins has been exposed, I'm hopeful we'll see more attention shift back over to art

News & Events
Objkt has rolled out collection offers! They have been making moves over there on the tezos art platform and we are quietly seeing more movement with some high price sales
including a 5000 XTZ sale on an early AI art piece and a few Dragons by William Mapan (my favorite collection, see more below)
The Christie's AI art auction concluded with most of the lots selling, though some did not.
Headlined by Refik's 1/5 for $277k, check out the fantastic art and the prices they got both to get an appreciation of the breadth of AI art out there and to see how they are being valued
Autonomous AI artist Higgs, created by 0xdiid and Vertu Fine Arts minted out it's genesis collection at ETH Denver, "The Concrete."
I love to see the interplay of AI art and code-created gen art, and the continued creativity by artists and builders alike
Great art, great prices - beautiful art for ~$500 or less
Dominoes in Fluxus by Ivona Tau - 0.12 ETH
Mitosis by Moodsoup - 0.0035 BTC
Rubber by Pop Punk - 0.99 SOL
Umbrae by Alessandro Fiore - 3.33 SOL
Exciting upcoming drops
A Book From The Sky by Gene Kogan - the auctions are just ending on this collection as of this writing, so it's not exactly an upcoming release, but one worth highlighting as it's art created in 2015 using early AI research work.
Gene scanned over 100k Chinese characters and had the AI create it's own, pretty cool stuff! Congrats to Fellowship and Gene on the sell out and great concept
Our friend Douglxss is teasing a cool collection coming out soon (follow him on Twitter for updates) - this one is called Color Studies and is a grid analysis with abstractions.
To be honest I don't know all the technicalities, I just love the aesthetic style and hat tip to cryptopunks (in this output at least), and love his style in general!
Progression by Jeff Davis - the Artblocks OG is at it again with his brilliant color studies.
This collection is a large collection size at a low price of 0.02, I'm interested to see the outputs (releases on Artblocks on 3/11)
Art to highlight
Dragons by William Mapan - The master generative artist's first long form collection sits on Tezos and by many accounts is his best work.
In this one he mixes his explorations of texture with his brilliant color studies.
He also infuses a great amount of rare interesting pieces (which enhances collectibility and community formation), and it was only 25 XTZ to mint!
We interviewed William about this collection a while back, check it out for a great story a deeper look at this fantastic art.
